The Slovenian Energy and Environment Partnership in Defence was established to provide a strategic and comprehensive approach for responding to energy and environmental challenges in defence.

Strategic defence and civil stakeholder alliances represent an effective approach towards the integration of Slovenian partners in international defence programmes and global defence value chains.

Primary goals

To increase the level of cooperation in research & development (RD) and technology, with other EU and NATO member partners.

To increase the share of Slovenian partners involved in Si MoD, the European Defence Agency (EDA), and NATO alliance defence programmes.

To increase products developed in Slovenia in global defence value chains.

Key tasks

Supporting Ministry of Defence (Si MoD) and Slovenian Armed Forces in joining international defence programmes and projects.

Steering and coordination of Slovenian stakeholders’ participation in Si MoD, European Defence Agency (EDA) and NATO programmes.

Active inclusion of Slovenian experts in international working and project groups.

Coordinated support for developing international research &development, technology, and demonstration projects.

Identification of key strategic and operative programmes , in accordance with the needs of Slovenian stakeholders.

Promoting presentation of Slovenian partners’ research & development and manufacturing capabilities.

Founders

The TECES, Green Tech Cluster, is a holder and coordinator of various strategic development partnerships and projects.

TECES allows a coordinated integration of civil interests and Slovenian partners in Si MoD, EDA and NATO defence programmes, and also ensures adequate expert representation.

The role of TECES is to direct and manage the partnership and represent it in legal affairs.

The Ministry of Defence (Si MoD) officially represents the interests of the Republic of Slovenia as an EU member in EDA and NATO programmes.


It provides the necessary information, enables the integration of civil representatives into the defence programmes and working parties of the Si MoD, EDA and NATO.
In particular it ensures conformity of the partnership’s activities with the strategic interests of the Republic of Slovenia.

The organisational structure of the partnership follows the same operational principles as industrial and innovation clusters.

SiEnE's Steering Committee

SiEnE's Steering Committee is the overarching governing, coordinating and steering body of the partnership. It comprises two coordinators: defence coordinator, Si MoD’s appointed representative, who represents the interests of the Republic of Slovenia and Si MoD in the field in question, and civil coordinator, who represents the interests of civil stakeholders.

SiEnE's Experts Group is the key expert body of the partnership, responsible for the integration of Slovenian partners in Si MoD, EDA and NATO programmes. The members of the Experts Group are responsible for the provision of expert content and the coordination of the partnership’s activities with members.
